Biff! Pow! Bamf! Snikt! Thwip!

At the risk of sliding into geekdom, the written sound effect is such a delightful invention! They pop up on demand whenever Adam West slugs a goon or Spidey swings into Manhattan traffic. Gambit’s collapsible staff is marked by a distinctive Snakt. The armored feet of Victor Von Doom might make a Thoom sound on paper. Even the mighty Batmobile is gifted with a Vroom! as it races into Gotham City. You can’t duplicate these sounds on film or television or video games. They have an artistic quality that can only be found in comic books.

Do you remember any unusual sound effects?
