One word and one motion is all you need to bring something of value to the greatest in need.
When a remade Frank Cross extended his hands to the viewer and yelled “Here!” in Scrooged, he was urging viewers to provide the simplest of gifts: food or a blanket or a little money for a sandwich, anything within reach that can comfort the poor and the lonely. And as the ending song to Scrooged went, all it ever required was a little love in your heart. This is the time of the year when peace on earth is not truly realized. . . not without you. Give a gift card from a coffee shop or supermarket to a homeless person. Donate your time or money to a shelter or a food pantry. Let charity become something of a reflex, easily rendered and easily received. That is peace on earth and goodwill to all.
